UAB cardiologists are participating in a nationwide gene therapy trial to determine whether experimental gene therapy can stimulate the growth of new blood vessels in the heart.

The National Lung Screening Trial seeks to show if either spiral CT scanning or standard chest X-ray images is better at reducing lung caner deaths, and also will examine risks and benefits of both.
